Because it’s 2:30 AM and no one is awake to keep me company:

good things while comicing

  • listening to This American Life online
  • listening to animated commentaries
  • drinking diet coke
  • keeping from being bored by working on another drawing
  • distracting self by blogging. ha!

inspiring:

  • Dorkily: rereading manga like naruto and bleach. I should probably find a better sounding comic to be reading for fun, but whatever. deal with it.
  • pixar. especially commentaries (see a trend?)
  • looking at the stack of pages already done. I’m on pages 34 and 35. my god.
  • Alphonse Mucha (See over here, or google his name, like I just did.) the lines and complicated decorations…perfect for the dramatics of Madame Leopard and for my own slight obsession with complicating my pages…

I should like, add the links to blogs and things I actually read to the “blogroll” huh? hmm.

I am laughing

I found Kate Beaton’s site a little while ago, and how much do I love her comics? especially the history ones? Garfields? Cookie-eating Napoleon? it’s awesome.

so go here and read the “history project” first. then the rest.

coming back home from Canada tomorrow. yay 12 hour train ride. augh.

on the other hand I am SO excited to go draw things when I get back. (of course, in that case I should draw NOW, you know? but it’s enough to be excited for now). I saw these GREAT chinese wall paintings at the R.O.M. and aaaaah. so good. and dinosaurs and prints and….eeeeek! so I hope to draw a lot.

and Kate Beaton’s comics make me want to draw about Darwin (there was an exhibit about him at the museum) he was hilarious. well. sweet too. but hilarious. especially the whole HMS Beagle trip.

I am so happy.

I got the yotsuba soundtrack (a soundtrack? for a manga? whatever) from here.

and it was free. ohboyIamsohappy. anime and consequently their soundtracks are my old-and-now-new obsession.

I am kind of a soundtrack fiend, now.

and anime I have totally been watching suddenly:

-the melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (bizarre. but also hilarious, especially the first (er, 11th? damn weird order) episode.

-ouran host club

-kamichu (so cute.)

I didn’t really like Lucky Star, though I thought I would meh.

/animedorktasticalness.

the title of this post should really be: we now interrupt our broadcast for anime talk.

music

I’m obsessed with music lately, especially soundtracks for movies/tv shows and just remembered how anime can have good ones. Azumanga daioh’s has this great mix of recorders and xylophones stuff that is just perfect for the show and is great to listen to.

anyway.

I am going to go download loads of it online and then I will be buried even further under my piles of music to listen to.

in that vein, check out this awesome opening to the anime for ‘honey & clover’, which I’ve only read the manga of.
